Festival of Voices to be Heard at Hobart Airport

Jul 6, 2010

More than 1000 singers including dozens of choirs and individuals from around the country are embarking on Hobart this winter to participate in Australia’s premier festival of choirs, the Festival of Voices, from 7 to 11 July.

Hobart Airport is thrilled that the Festival of Voices will be heard at Hobart Airport on the 7th and 11th of July.  The Bendigo Youth Choir will perform on the 7th July and the Australian Girls Choir will perform on the 11th July.

Hobart Airport Chief Executive Officer Brett Reiss welcomed the choirs to Hobart Airport, “It is fantastic to be able to showcase such a wonderful event at Hobart Airport.”

He added, “The choirs that are singing demonstrate amazing talent and we are privileged to be able to offer this entertainment to our passengers.”

“Events such as the Festival of Voices held over winter assist in growing tourism to Hobart, Hobart Airport welcomes this.”

The Festival of Voices is in its sixth year in 2010 and a firm fixture on Tasmania’s cultural calendar. The festival offers a rare opportunity for anyone with a passion for singing to spend five days learning from and working with some of the best choral teachers in the world. The intensive workshops culminate in public performances in major venues including the Federation Concert Hall, St. David’s Cathedral and Hobart Town Hall.
