Aboriginal Heritage sites
In order to understand, preserve and manage sites of cultural heritage value we are committed to a proactive and cooperative approach with relevant government departments, community groups and organisations.
A number of Aboriginal Heritage sites exist across land managed by Hobart Airport in the form of isolated artefacts and artefact scatters. All sites are included management plans to maintain and effectively manage the varied values and sites.
The Airport contains buildings of historic heritage value. Llanherne House is heritage listed on the Tasmanian Heritage Register having been identified as important to Tasmania, reflecting the local history, culture and society. The Air Traffic Control Tower (owned by Airservices Australia) is included in the Commonwealth Heritage List), under the EPBC Act.
