Our Master Plan provides the basis for the operation and development of Hobart Airport. Under the Airports Act 1996, Hobart Airport is required to develop a new Master Plan at least every eight years outlining the proposed development and direction of the airport for the next 20 years.
All leased federal airports, are required to develop and submit for the Minister’s approval Major Development Plans (MDP) for specific types of development, as well as for developments that exceed certain thresholds.
Land use planning and building control at Hobart Airport is regulated by the Airports Act 1996. The Act requires that all building approvals for construction activity on Hobart Airport land are issued under Commonwealth law.
Objects in the vicinity of an airport have the potential to create air safety hazards and to seriously limit the scope of aviation operations into and out of the airport.
We’re working on building a better airport for everyone. You can follow our progress and find out what’s in store for the terminal and airport precinct.
