Norris Carter

 

Norris Carter was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Hobart Airport in March 2021.

He has over 20 years’ experience in aviation. He was previously CEO of Cairns and Mackay Airports, and before that led route development at Auckland Airport. He spent 14 years at Qantas in roles including network planning, revenue management and loyalty, and earlier in his career worked at The Boston Consulting Group and IBM.

Norris holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Adelaide and an MBA from the University of NSW.

Matt Cocker

Matt has been engaged in the aviation industry for the past 20 years and is the Chief Operating Officer of Hobart Airport. Prior to joining Hobart Airport, Matt held positions within the aviation industry across the country including Adelaide Airport, Northern Territory Airports and Qantas.

Matt is currently the Chair of the Australian Airports Association Tasmanian Division and is a member of the Board of the Tourism Industry Council of Tasmania. Matt has completed tertiary education in business/personnel management and is a graduate of the International Airport Professional (IAP) ACI-ICAS AMPAP program.

Prior to moving into the aviation industry Matt was an Officer in the Australian Defence Force and has a law enforcement background.

Kate Gillies

Kate is our Chief Financial and Commercial Officer with experience across a range of areas including finance and treasury management, commercial analysis, business strategy, accounting, risk management and stakeholder engagement.

She has worked in the utilities industry for over 15 years, in both infrastructure and retail businesses, most recently as the CFO of Aurora Energy and prior to that the Deputy CFO / Acting CFO of Hydro Tasmania.

Kate commenced at Hobart Airport in 2021. Kate holds a Bachelor of Economics, a Graduate Certificate of Applied Finance and is a Certified Practicing Accountant.

Gail Wilson

Joining Hobart Airport in September 2015, Gail is our Executive General Manager, People, Culture and Environment. Gail’s focus is on developing the airport’s people management strategy, workforce planning, employee engagement and cultural development. Gail also oversees environmental considerations across the airport precinct including Hobart Airport’s response to climate change.

Prior to Hobart Airport, Gail gained over 20 years’ experience in operational and strategic HR management through roles held in the banking and not-for-profit sector.

A finalist in the Telstra Businesswoman’s Award (Tasmania) in 2011, Gail holds a Diploma of Business (Human Resources) and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Russell Aschmann

Our Executive General Manager Infrastructure, Russell is highly experienced in the implementation of airport asset systems and infrastructure asset management. He has over two decades of experience working for the Airports Company of South Africa, managing a network of nine airports ranging from 70k to 20M passengers per year.

He has been involved in numerous major capacity development projects for O.R. Tambo International Airport, Cape Town International Airport and the greenfield construction of the King Shaka International Airport. In addition, he’s performed consulting services for Guarulhos International Airport and Ghana International Airport. He has significant experience in project management and has developed and implemented maintenance strategies enabling airports to perform reliably and cost-effectively.
